Les Etats-Unis ont surtout plaidé en faveur des populations pour qu'elles puissent « avoir accès sans entraves à l'aide humanitaire », tout en martelant que la crise sécuritaire à l'Est de la RDC nécessite « une solution politique et non pas militaire ».

L'ambassade des États-Unis a, dans un communiqué rendu public jeudi, exprimé sa « vive inquiétude » face à la résurgence de la violence dans la province du Nord-Kivu en ce moment où les groupes d'autodéfense dits Wazalendo sont en train de mener une lutte armée contre les M23.

Ces combats armés, ont relevé les USA, ont provoqué la perte de vies et de biens ainsi que le déplacement des dizaines de milliers de civils.

Face à ce drame, ils ont appelé le gouvernement congolais, la MONUSCO et l'EAC à « redoubler d'efforts pour assurer la protection des civils dans le cadre de leurs compétences et mandats respectifs et de manière coordonnée ».

Les Etats-Unis ont surtout plaidé en faveur des populations pour qu'elles puissent « avoir accès sans entraves à l'aide humanitaire », tout en martelant que la crise sécuritaire à l'Est de la RDC nécessite « une solution politique et non pas militaire ».

Alors que les FARDC ont insisté, ces derniers mois, sur la stricte observance du cessez-le-feu, les rebelles du M23 ont, de leur part, refusé d'appliquer les résolutions adoptées dans le cadre des processus de paix de Nairobi et de Luanda. Notamment celle qui concerne leur retrait progressif des zones occupées depuis plus d'une année dans le Nord-Kivu sous l'égide de la Force régionale de l'EAC. Les rebelles du M23 exigent un dialogue direct avec Kinshasa pour décanter la crise. Kinshasa, de son côté, a catégoriquement refusé de dialoguer avec les rebelles.
