On the day he arrived in the #DRC, we informed our point of contact in the DRC that Congressman @RepRonnyJackson was not sent there by President @realDonaldTrump, nor was he part of an official delegation of the United States Congress. Nevertheless, the media began publishing incorrect statements about the Congressman, causing confusion in the DRC.

We once again urge the media not to run stories based on a single source and to confirm all information through official sources and authorized representatives.

Members of Congress may visit foreign countries on their own accord and will be welcomed in the spirit of friendship extended to all members of Congress. Congressman Jackson's opinions are his own and do not reflect the official view of the Trump Administration or Congress. We will be engaging with the Congressman's office to address his concerns.
