[Rwanda Forum] "Kagame is nothing but a bloodthirsty dictator", Thierry Mariani at the EU Parliament

#SCANDAL : Thierry Mariani: Kagame is 'a bloodthirsty dictator' behind massacres & plunder in eastern #DRC. Calls for EU to cut ties with Rwanda & free Victoire Ingabire.

In a strong intervention at the European Parliament, French deputy @ThierryMARIANI  openly condemned Rwandan President Paul Kagame, describing him as "a bloodthirsty and authoritarian dictator, sponsor of massacres, civil persecutions, and the pillage of resources in eastern DRC."

Mariani criticized what he called Brussels' past complacency toward Kigali, noting that Kagame's re-election with 99.18% of the vote went largely unchallenged. He urged the European Union to break with this history, describing continued financial and trade cooperation with Rwanda as "intolerable and contradictory to the EU's own moral principles."

He also highlighted the case of opposition leader Victoire Ingabire, calling her "a symbol of hope for democracy" and demanding her release from what he described as arbitrary imprisonment.

"The European Union," Mariani concluded, "has a duty to revive this hope, end complicity with Kigali, and finally stand with the people of the Great Lakes region."

[Rwanda Forum] The order to search and capture of a Rwandan general for genocide and killing four Spaniards.

The order to search and capture of a Rwandan general for genocide and killing four Spaniards. The National Court magistrate José Luis Calama has ordered the search and capture of Kayumba Nyamwasa, a general and former head of Rwanda's secret services, who is under investigation for terrorism, torture, genocide and crimes against humanity. In the court order, which El Confidencial has seen, the judge places him among the top responsible for mass killings of civilians in Rwanda during the 1990s, and asserts that he ordered the assassination of four Spaniards: the priest Joaquim Vallmajó; the nurse María Flors Sirera Fortuny; the photographer Luis Valtueña Gallego; and the doctor Manuel Madrazo Osuna. Calama links Nyamwasa to various war crimes and notes that "he coordinated the military operation in the Byumba stadium," a town in northern Rwanda. That event took place in April 1994, when 2,500 Hutu refugees were gathered "to be massacred by throwing grenades and then o...
