Pour Kagame Masaka sera un Mémorial marquant son déclenchement des tueries interethniques qualifiées abusivement de "génocide" , mais ayant servi de coverture à la conquête du Rwanda par une horde de tueurs Tutsi venus d'Ouganda et qui massacrait tout être vivant sur son passage: Hutu, Tutsi et Twa.

Rwandans holding diplomatic and official passports could soon travel to Brazil visa-free, following an agreement signed between the two countries. This is according to a statement issued on October 6 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

As per the press release, Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent Biruta, made a two-day official visit to Brazil, from October 5 to 6.

It indicated that this was the first high-level visit of its kind between the two countries.

The primary objective of this visit was to reinforce bilateral cooperation and boost trade between Rwanda and Brazil, the ministry indicated.

It stated that Biruta held productive meetings with senior officials from the Brazilian Federal Government, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira.

As part of the meetings, they signed two important agreements: one concerning the transfer of sentenced persons, and another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at waiving visa requirements for holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports.

In discussions with his counterpart, Minister Biruta underscored the great potential for cooperation in sectors of mutual interest, notably agriculture, trade, investment, and air services.

"We have also agreed that a Rwandan business mission will visit Brazil in the near future. This visit will serve as a significant step towards deepening economic relations and fostering greater understanding between our nations," he told members of the press in Brasilia.

They also discussed the critical issue of climate change and its far-reaching implications. Both nations share deep concerns about the impact of climate change on their respective regions and are committed to addressing this challenge through collaborative efforts.

Brazil is the largest country in South America and Latin America and is the world's fifth-largest country by area and the seventh most populous. It has a gross domestic product of more than $2 trillion as of April 2023, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Rwanda and Brazil established diplomatic relations in 1981. In recent years, both countries have shown mutual interest in exploring ways to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation.

A Congolese military court sentenced a lawmaker to death Friday for treason and involvement with the M23 rebel movement, a verdict his lawyer denounced as based on "ethnic hatred."

The death penalty is often handed down in the Democratic Republic of Congo but has not been applied for 20 years and is systematically commuted to life imprisonment.

The public prosecutor had in August requested life imprisonment for Edouard Mwangachuchu, 70, who represents the Masisi constituency in the National Assembly and also owns a mining company.

Mwangachuchu, who was not present at the sentencing, was found guilty of "illegal possession of weapons and munitions of war," as well as "treason" and "participation in the M23 insurrectionary movement," said presiding judge General Robert Kalala.

The Tutsi-led M23 militia has captured swathes of territory in Congo's North Kivu province since reemerging from dormancy in 2021.

Independent U.N. experts, the Kinshasa government and several Western nations including the United States and France accuse Rwanda of actively backing the M23.

Kigali strongly denies the charge.

Taken in for questioning in early March, Mwangachuchu was first held in Kinshasa's main prison, Makala, before being transferred to the Ndolo military prison where the 30 or so hearings in his trial were held.

His co-defendent Robert Muchamalirwa, a police captain prosecuted for "violation of orders" was acquitted by the court, which then ordered his immediate release.

Mwangachuchu's lawyer said he will appeal the verdict, calling it a trial "based on ethnic hatred and deductions."

Thomas Gamakolo said that it had never been proven that Mwangachuchu had links with Rwanda and was presumed guilty because he belonged to the Tutsi ethnic group.

"It is very difficult today in our country to live or exist as a Tutsi," the lawyer said.
